Gail Camilla

Thank you for visiting my website!

I grew up on the south side of Chicago and attended The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. There I discovered a fascination with the birth of modern art. I studied painting, drawing, photography, and printmaking. I received a BFA with a teaching certificate and moved to Colorado. I taught art for 28 years in the public schools and in many after school programs.

I find my greatest inspiration is nature and the landscape. I collect earths and minerals to incorporate into my artwork. I frequently use mixed-media: dry pigments, earth, minerals, acrylics, acrylic medium, rocks, hand-made paper, canvas, watercolors, dyes, colored pencils, glitter, leather, wood, etc. I use realism, representationalism, and abstraction.

I play guitar, a midi-controller, sing, and am a percussionist with a collection of hand drums and instruments. I love international folk and ethnic music and listen to many genres. I hope to be recording some tracks soon.

I’ve been working on my memoirs, The Secrets I Never Wanted to Tell, along with monologues for the stage.
